tip of the day - slippery, sliding duvets

by Chloe on February 3rd, 2008

It’s cold enough in my neck of the woods that I need every little inch of duvet that I can pull out from underneath my dogs :-)  For some reason, they think that it’s their duvet!  It doesn’t help that my duvet slides around inside the duvet cover - and duvet covers aren’t quite warm enough when it’s -40 outside…

I’ve got a solution to keep your duvet & cover firmly attached to each other:

how to stop a duvet from sliding inside a duvet cover

Sew lengths of ribbon or twill tape to each corner of your duvet.  Turn your duvet cover inside out and sew ribbons to each corner of it.  I find a length of 10 - 12″ works best for me.

Now lay the duvet on top of the duvet cover (still wrong side out), matching all corners together.  Tie each pair of ribbons together, so the duvet & cover are tied together at each corner.  Now turn it right side out and, voila - your duvet will stay firmly anchored in place!
