tip of the day - fitting pants
I have a challenging time fitting pants sometimes. The darts aren’t always in the right place, or the waist band gaps in the back… not so much fun!
One tip that I learned was to make a set of “paper pants” with your pattern before you even cut out the fabric.
Reinforce the paper pattern by running strips of scotch tape down the inner & outer legs, as well as the center seam. Lay the pattern on a flat surface and tape or “sew” the front & back together at the inseam. Overlap the edges so you have the correct seam width.
Now for the tricky part!
Tape the front & back together at the outer leg seam, to make one pant leg. Be careful or you can easily tear the tissue paper.
Carefully slip the “pants” on an see where they need to be adjusted.
Too much room in the back waist? Try a deeper dart.
Hips are tight? Add a little extra ease there.
It really does help to take the extra time :-) Why make your own clothes if you can’t make them fit right!

I will do this. But instead of tissue paper, I will use craft paper or wrapping paper. it will be a little more durable.
I actually stop making pants because they would not fit right. I will let you know how this works for me.
