Tangled Thread - Tips, Trick and Tutorials in Sewing & Stitching

Sewing in Home Ec.

by Cathy on October 3rd, 2006

I’m old enough that I was required to take Home Ec. in junior high. Our sewing project was a skirt. Not just any old skirt but an unpressed pleat skirt. My mother got the fabric which consisted of huge green leaves on a lighter green background. I did a good job on that skirt too but when I put it on, I looked like a huge green beachball!

That skirt would have made Twiggy (or Kate Moss) look like a beachball!

The moral of this story is, I was scarred for life when it comes to sewing. Such a horrible experience at such a young age has made it nearly impossible for me to sew!
Give me a needle and thread and any other type of craft and I’m there. Even hand sewing is ok. Just don’t ask me to sew anything intricate on a machine!
