Ripple Afghan Pattern
As promised, here is the pattern for the ripple afghan couresty Coats & Clark. This is amazingly easy to crochet.
RED HEART® “Super Saver®”, Art. E300 (8 ounce/452 yard solid and 6 ounce/348 yard multicolor skeins): 21 ounces CA, 8 ounces CB, 12 ounces CC, 9 ounces CD.
Afghan: 316 Soft White CA, 334 Buff CB, 382 Country Blue CC, 303 Painted Desert Print CD.
Crochet Hook: 6.5 mm [US K-10.5].
Yarn needle.

ch : chain
dc : double crochet
lp(s) : loop(s)
mm : millimeters
rep : repeat

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS
Dc2tog : yo and draw up a lp in next st, yo and draw through 2 lps, skip next 2 sts, yo and draw up a lp in next st, yo and draw through 2 lps, yo and draw through 3 lps remaining on hook
PST (Puff Stitch) : [yo and draw up a lp] 4 times all in same dc, yo and draw through 8 lps, yo and draw through 2 lps remaining on hook
gauges
GAUGE: 1 pattern repeat = 5½”; 8 rows = 5″.
CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Afghan measures approximately 49½” wide x 64″ long.

TO CHANGE COLOR IN DC: With current color, yo and draw up a lp in last st, yo and draw through 2 lps, with next color to be used yo and draw through 2 lps remaining on hook.

With CA, ch 175.
Row 1 (Right Side): Dc in 5th ch from hook, dc in next 7 ch, * (dc, ch 2, dc) all in next ch, dc in next 7 ch **, dc2tog, dc in next 7 ch; rep from * to last 3 ch, end at **; dc in next ch, skip next ch, dc in last ch; turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first dc, skip next dc, sc in next 8 dc, * 3 sc in ch-2 sp, sc in next 8 dc **, skip dc2tog, sc in next 8 dc; rep from * to last 2 sts, end at **; skip next dc, sc in top of ch-3; turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, skip first 2 sc, dc in next 8 sc, * (dc, ch 2, dc) all in next sc, dc in next 7 sc **, dc2tog, dc in next 7 sc; rep from * to last 3 sc, end at **; dc in next sc, skip next sc, dc in last sc changing to CB; turn.
Row 4 (Puff St Row): With CB, ch 3, skip first 2 dc, * [PST in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc] 4 times, (PST, ch 2, PST) all in ch-2 sp, [ch 1, skip next dc, PST in next dc] 4 times **, skip dc2tog; rep from * to last 2 sts, end at **; skip next dc, dc in top of ch-3 changing to CA; turn.
Row 5: With CA, ch 3, skip first PST, [dc in ch-1 sp, dc in next PST] 4 times, * (dc, ch 2, dc) all in ch-2 sp, [dc in next PST, dc in ch-1 sp] 3 times, dc in next PST **, dc2tog over next two ch-1 sps skipping the two PST below, dc in next PST, [dc in ch-1 sp, dc in next PST] 3 times; rep from * to last 3 sts, end at **; dc in next ch-1 sp, skip next PST, dc in top of ch-3; turn.
Row 6: Rep Row 2.
Row 7: Rep Row 3, changing to CC.
Row 8: With CC, rep Row 4, changing to CD.
Rows 9, 10, 11: With CD rep Rows 5, 6, 7.
Row 12: With CC, rep Row 4, changing to CA.
Rows 13, 14, 15: Rep Rows 5, 6, 7, changing to CB.
Rep Rows 4-15 seven more times, the rep Rows 4-7 once more; do not fasten off at end of last row.
FINISHING-Edging: With CA and right side still facing, work 1 round sc evenly around entire afghan, working more or fewer sc as necessary at corners and inner and outer points of ripple to keep work flat; join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

I appreciate the free pattern. I needed a simple pattern because I can no longer follow so many repeat instructions. Just too old. lol
