poppy pins for Remembrance day
I thought it would be nice to do something to commemorate Remembrance Day (or Veteran’s day, depending where you live)
Karen recently sent me a wonderful link for a poppy corsage, designed by Juju Vail. I love her concept and wanted to play around with it a little. Here’s what I came up with:

I used two different sized flat yo-yos to make the flower, and embroidered a black center using floss. This is just the first one I made, but I’ve got some changes in mind for the next batch :-) I think I’d use a black button or a third yo-yo instead of the embroidery.

That’s great Chloe. It makes me think of the number of poppy pins I have had over the years, and they never seem to be around the next year and so I get another one. One like this would be a ‘keeper’ and I could still donate and wear a beautiful handmade poppy pin.
I love the yo-yos for the making of the flower. What a great project this would be for school children….and anyone!
Hugs,

Chloe, I love it! Are the leaves just folded and gathered, or did you seam them?
