I find it interesting how innovations in technology can influence or change how we work or create work. Instead of having to take photos with my old 35mm camera, wait to process the film before I could even see how the shots turned out, I can whip out my digital camera. Presto, the process that used to take hours or even days (you need a photograph at 10pm on a Sunday night? Forget about it!) I can get instant results and can re-shoot, fix issues & get basically instant results.
To say nothing of the fact that I no longer need to spend $80 on slide film to get 3 good shots :-)
I also really like the fact that we can connect with artists & craftspeople all over the world, with similar interests. Feeling isolated from your peers is not a fun experience - and with things like the internet, or blogging or podcasts - it makes it so much easier!
Craft Sanity by Jennifer Ackerman-Haywood is a combination blog & podcast (kind of like an online radio program that you can download to your computer or mp3 player) with all kinds of great interviews from craft makers & designers. Check it out!
