my deal of the year - $10 for a dressy wool wrap
I’ve been hankering after a warm wrap or shawl that I could wear out in the evenings if I don’t want to deal with a full coat. I didn’t have anything in my stash that would work for it, so I just kept that wish in the back of my mind.
During the big New Year’s day sale at my favorite fabric store, I found some different wool blends in the bargain bins. They originally came in at $20 - $30 per yard and were now marked down to $4 or $5 per yard.
And the bargain center was all on sale for 50% off per yard!
I snagged two and a half yards each of a soft, pink plaid and a chocolate brown plaid. For a grand total of $10 - now that’s my kind of fabric shopping!
I’ve finally had a chance to sit down and sew the wrap up - here’s how it turned out:

I pinned the edges together and folded the raw edges over, pinned & then sewed it. I needed to hand sew the corners - for some reason, my sewing machine didn’t like the idea of sewing through 16 layers of wool suiting :-)
The wrap is warm, cozy & stylish - and even better - only cost $10 to make!
