more Christmas presents
Now that Christmas is over I finally get to share everything I was working away on in December! I’ve been wanting to make a memory quilt for my brother & his new wife since they got married in May. I decided that it would make a great Christmas present for them :-)
I collected some of their favorite wedding photos and printed them onto Jacquard’s silk inkjet printing sheets. I prefer the look of printing directly onto fabric, as opposed to using a photo transfer. You must use specially treated fabric or the ink will just wash right out.
I used silk & cotton to piece around the photos & then machine-embroidered to embellish them. My DH came up with the idea of using copper tags with their names & the date engraved into it. He also made several hearts from copper as well.
The photos were sewn onto the backing (which I had already quilted) and then hand-stitched to bind the edges.
