memory boxes and embroidered butterflies

by Chloe on August 14th, 2007

Here’s how I’m using my embroidered panel of silk:

I pressed the raw edges to the wrong side, to make a strip 3.5 inches wide. I glued it onto a large cardboard hatbox I painted (and will stamp, using the same butterfly stamps) I wanted to secure the lid in place, so I took a strip of coordinating ribbon and tied it around the box. You can also tack the ribbon down using glue to stop it from sliding off.

I’m tickled pink by the way this turned out… those are our wedding colors btw :-)

This turned out beautiful! Blues and browns together have become my new favorite colors. I went to one of those paint your own pottery places for the first time last week. (actually it’s ceramics not pottery) I did a mug with blue and brown, and I can’t wait to see it after it’s fired. I pick it up tomorrow.

That sounds gorgeous Anita! Blue & brown have always been one of my favorite color combinations - even when it wasn’t trendy :-)
