it’s time to start those Christmas presents
I know, I’m sorry - I can hear the screams of rage from here…
But the Christmas fabrics are already out in stores…
And wouldn’t it be nice to have presents & decorations done early, instead of having a last minute panic?
I’ve written about my yo-yo garlands before, but I thought it would be fun to post a reminder - after all, I make these during the summer!
Every year I start making small yo-yos, about an inch & a half across. Sometimes I just use Christmas fabrics, other times - it’s whatever makes me feel happy when I pull it out of my cotton fabrics. I collect piles of the yo-yos & then start sewing them together.
I normally just use a couple of short running stitches to connect the garland, but if you’re feeling fancy you could add a bead in between each yo-yo. Metallic thread can add a festive touch - just use short lengths, because it’s notorious for tangling :-)
I love making yo-yo garlands - it’s a quiet, relaxing project for summertime… even if it’s meant for Christmas!
