Introduction
Needlework, that mysterious realm of creating beauty with bits of thread, yarn, ribbon and any fiber which can be put through the eye of a needle, caught with crochet hook, wrapped around a knitting needle, snagged with a latch-hook.
The fascination with these art forms began for me at a young age. I remember my Grandmother showing me how to loop yarn around the needles as I deciphered my Mary Maxim “Knitting and Crocheting for Beginners” book.
Over the years, I tried the various arts and crafts the women in my extended family poured their joy into, and many of them have accompanied me into my adult life. Some, such as cross stitch, I had not acquired, but have since dove headfirst into the art and found it one I love.
Needlework is all-encompassing, whether you want form or function or a bit of both, regardless of age, gender, or any other separation.
Join me as I foray down the lane of stitching delights, from present times to the forgotten corridors of history and back again.
