having fun in the studio
I teach craft classes at a local craft store, normally just classes for adults. I’m taking over a couple of kids classes while another teacher is away on vacation. I had to go in today and make the samples for the upcoming classes (for some reason people like to see what they’re making before they pay :-)
I had such a blast!
I got to play with markers, modeling clay… even pom-poms.
I think it’s easy to get into being “serious” when you’re working in the studio. But have you taken the time to relax and give yourself permission to play? It’s amazing how liberating it can be!
Here’s what I’m playing with :-)

I splurged and treated myself to a set of 50 markers. Admittadly, they were on sale, so $5 isn’t much of a splurge. They’re just plain & simple fine tipped kids markers, but the colors are so wonderful!
I also treated myself to a new set of Golden fluid acrylics. They’re my favorite paints, and work great on fabric. I’ve used them for years on everything from lightweight cottons to heavy unfinished canvas.

That’s a lot of fun & inspiration for less than $25!
So what inspires you in your studio? How can you play in your studio?
