From the Stash
My mother is spending part of her vacation visiting my family, and she brought me a present! Yay! :) I have hunted online for a vendor that has an image of this book, or even just has it for sale, but no luck. It is titled “Navajo Rugs in Cross-stitch & Needlepoint” (ISBN 0-9708911-1-3). It has 8 different traditional rug designs as charts. Each design has a bit of history, stitch count, colors needed, and size of cloth. Color numbers are listed for DMC and 3ply wool. There are no symbols listed next to the colors, even though the black and white charts make use of symbols. Luckily, there are full-color images of the completed pieces, so you can figure out which symbol matches with, for instance, “gold”.
This is a unique and interesting pattern book, which I’m glad to have and look forward to creating a lovely rug in cross-stitch. :)

The charts sound neat, Deb!
Could you work them up on large scale canvas as full size rugs? That would be WONDERFUL!

Hi Noreen :)
I probably could do a larger scale on canvas- would probably need to stitch 4 squares per 1 symbol to keep it looking nice. Not having worked on canvas or with the wool yarns, it sounds a bit intimidating, lol.
