Tangled Thread - Tips, Trick and Tutorials in Sewing & Stitching

Frederick the Literate

by Deb on March 19th, 2006

I thought I would share my most recent progress pic of the Dimensions kit I am stitching, Frederick the Literate. I have finished the lower left quarter completely, and completed part of the lower right corner since this photo was taken, but my dig camera is out & about today. I am finding that stitching on black Aida isn’t so terrible if one has bright light. Natural daylight is best, as it picks up the gloss in the floss which contrasts with the matte of the cloth. Light colored lap (clothing, piece of cloth, dish towel) helps highlight the holes for greater stitching ease. (Many thanks to Ternezia over at Lorelei City Crafts Blog for sharing this tip with me!)

Black aida might be a pain to stitch on but it’s already visible from your progress pic the result is well worth it. Glad that the “bright lap” trick works :)

It is definitely worth it. I don’t think it would look the same on white Aida. :)
