Tangled Thread - Tips, Trick and Tutorials in Sewing & Stitching

feeling better, thank you

by Chloe on September 27th, 2007

My foot is doing much better today, my shoulder however still is telling me that it’s not happy.

Despite my shoulder, I managed to sew a fleece sleeping bag liner for my DH.  His old one is falling apart and definitely needed replacing.  It’s basically just a long fleece tube, but there are quite a few cords that tie onto the inside of the sleeping bag.

I sat down at my work table this morning to work on it… and then couldn’t find any suitably colored twill tape (at least not in  any length more than 10″)

Let’s see…

I could drive to my closest fabric store (about 20 minutes away) which would also include having to change out of my well-used studio clothing.

Or I could be creative and make my own.

I took strips of solid colored quilting cotton, folded them over to enclose the raw edges and sewed them together to make long ties.

Voila!  Twill tape replacement made, while still in my studio clothing :-)
