Embellishment - Lettering

by Deb on March 23rd, 2006

I am very fond of old and ancient things- whether rustic Viking-esque wrought iron, or delicate illuminated manuscripts from a later period, or perhaps lush tapestries and pillows that bring to mind a touch of the exotic Near East.

When you’ve completed a timeless piece of needlework, perhaps it is missing that finishing touch. A few more French knots, or a sprinkling of beads to catch the light, a woven ribbon border. Or mayhap what you need is to add a quote, or other lettering. But you look in your stash and realize that all your alphabets are modern! What to do?

Why, log on to the internet and visit Celtic Cross Stitch’s Free alphabet generator page. Simply type in the words you want, and it will generate a black and white graph for you to stitch.

Their “Book of Celts” has interesting letters.
(and is something that I don’t have :))

I thought their products looked interesting too! I had the brilliant idea this morning to type the numbers, upper case and lower case alphabet, etc, into their generator, and print it. Then all I have to do when I want to use the lettering, is remember to leave spacing between letters and words when I stitch.
