Dandelion Charts, patterns, kits

by Deb on May 1st, 2006

It is May Day, and for many people gathering or buying flowers, and leaving them anonymously on people’s doorsteps is a fun tradition. I spent some hours recently removing dandelions galore from my rose garden and lawn. A lovely weed, with a happy sunny yellow blossom. As much as I like them, I don’t really want them growing nearby, but a stitched dandelion? That would be fun.

This cute little mouse by Margaret Sherry, called Dandelion Clock, looks like it would stitch up quickly. The title is a bit of a misnomer, because it doesn’t look like a clock to me at all, but it is still adorable.

DMC has a kit for a dandelion gone to seed. Reminds me of picking the seed heads as a kid and puffing to send all the little seeds floating off in the breeze.

Australian Embroidery & Cross Stitch magazine, Vol. 10 Number 10, has a very pleasant looking picture on the cover of dandelions. The project, The Dandelion by Helen Dafter, is included in the issue. A back issue can be ordered on this site (just scroll down the page until you reach the issue)

Dandelion Delight stamped cross stitch Quilt Blocks is a set of 6 quilt blocks featuring stylized dandelion blossoms. If you love to quilt too, this might be something fun to stitch.

Alternatively, if you’re feeling artistic (and perhaps adventurous), you could take your own photos of some dandelions or find an illustration in old herbals, to convert to a pattern of your own.

I’ve done some digging around and it doesn’t seem to be in print anymore. I would check ebay, or even Amazon or Chapters online used book searches.
    I’m sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!

I’m looking for the same chart as well as any other from the same series and can’t find anything on ebay etc.
