cutting tables
I’ve got a question for all of my lovely readers.
What do you use as a cutting table for cutting out fabric?
I’m currently using a standard banquet-size folding table with a cardboard cutting mat on the top. I also have heavy plastic mats with grids on them if I’m using a rotary cutter.
At this point, I’ve got quite a small studio and need to either use the living room (which isn’t always convienent) or go downstairs and use the basement. I’ve got a lot more space in the basement - but the light isn’t good enough to cut out dark fabric in the evening.
I’d love to be able to get one of these folding tables eventually:
But I think that’s for when I have a bigger studio :-)

I have a cutting table like that, and I love it! It’s a little taller than my kitchen table, and I’m tall so it’s the perfect height. I don’t leave it out all the time, so it’s great to put away somewhere since the ends fold down.

i, too, use a folding banquet-type table..but i learned a long time ago, a secret that really helps tall gals and ones with backaches!
get some of that small-in-diameter plastic plumbing pipe (it is sooo cheap), figure out how many inches you need to raise the table so your back doesnt hurt, then cut lengths of pipe and shove one on each table leg! it raises your table and no more backaches. dont forget to include however many inches will be shoved on the table leg, along with the number of inches you need. The easiest way to do this is measure before you go to home depot, then let THEM cut the lengths for you (then you dont have to buy the special pipe cutting tool.

regarding the folding table like what you see at JoAnn fabrics…i have a tiny apt. space, and I also hve one of those tables…they really ARE smallwhen folded up. If you plan to keep it folded when not in use, you have room for it. susi

I have this table; really like that it rolls easily… but it tips easily when rolled too. I use it quite a bit and found the price to be reasonable. Biggest problem I have with it are that the screws are constantly falling out on the underside…
