how-to of the day - fabric covered notebooks

I love notebooks!  I think I probably have a dozen of them in my studio at any given time.  But, not all notebooks are all that decorative, so what’s a fabric hound to do?
Cover them in beautiful fabric of course :-)
For this project, you’ll need a notebook, scissors, spray basting glue (I use Elmer’s spray […]

more fabric printing fun - with shaving cream?

I’ve seen some beautiful fabric that’s been printed using inks or paint and shaving cream. The shaving cream stabilizes the inks and allows you to make soft, marbled prints without a lot of mess.
The basic technique is to spray an even coating of unscented shaving cream into a work surface (I’d recommend working on […]

using jello to print fabric?

Okay, so it’s not really Jell-o, but gelatin makes a really cool surface to create mono-prints on fabric.

 Interface […]

inspiring links for free totebag patterns

I love seeing more and more people carrying fabric totebags!  It seems just in the past few months that the number of people carrying them has just exploded…
Now, I don’t like carrying plain, old boring totebags - I like stripes, or multi-colored stars - or fish… something bright and cheerful :-)
It seems like there are […]

happiness is…

A big pile of fabric that’s been cut out and ready to sew!

It’s amazing how much fabric you can go through if it’s printed off-grain and wrapped onto the bolt crookedly…
For the record, that’s four shrugs and one shirt - now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some sewing to do!

new poll - do you use the pattern layouts?

I’ve got a new poll for all you lovely readers :-)  The results from the last one were pretty clear, everyone said that they have to alter their patterns!
Because I’ve been sewing so much clothing lately, from new patterns, I’ve looked at a lot of different layouts that pattern companies suggest you use.  I’ve found […]
