Spoonflower is a new project that is bringing fabric printers and designers together - very exciting! It can be a challenge to market new designs for fabric prints and Spoonflower is making it a lot easier. They’re working to create small runs of custom printed fabric - but it’s just starting out.

So my lovely readers, how is the de-stashing going? I’m still being a good little de-stasher and haven’t bought any fabric for myself. I will however need to buy some fabric to complete a commission… I’m not sure how this works into the De-Stash Challenge, but since it’s technically not for myself, will you forgive […]

I wanted to share some of the cotton quilting fabrics that I’ve hand-dyed, using the same dye as this project.
The only difference between these fabrics, and the much more subtle gauze that I dyed is the amount of water you use in the dye bath.
I used a low water immersion technique (LWI) to create the […]

As promised yesterday in part one of the how-to, here’s the finished fabric:
It’s a softer, slightly mottled shade of coral - much more flattering now! It’s almost impossible to create a totally solid shade, you can end up with anything from a dramatic marbled tie-dye to soft waves of color.

I’m not quite sure how I ended up with this cotton gauze in bubble gum pink:

When was the last time you dug through your […]

I showed you the process of using bleach pens to print fabric yesterday, but how did those samples turn out? Here’s how the green print looks after being soaked in the bleach neutralizer, washed, dried & ironed:
I love how this swatch turned out… but the bleach didn’t do a darn thing on the other two! […]

I just stumbled across this website and had to share it with you all! It’s called “Missing Fabrics“, and has exactly just that :-)
It’s a multi-part website - they’ve got an online gallery that you can post photos of the discontinued fabrics that you need. So if you see a piece of fabric on there, […]

I was recently given this lovely old tea towel, that was originally my Nana’s:
It’s definitely been well used, there are a few spots, some wear & tear… and I think it might have accidentally been washed with a red t-shirt at some point in it’s history :-)
But, I love the flower print and the fabric […]

This is amazing - there is now fabric made from milk! Wow - trees, bamboo, soy, water bottles and now milk… I’m waiting until they can find a way to make fabric out of junk mail :-) Isn’t technology amazing?
