sew your own baby bibs

I have to admit, I’m not in the market for baby bibs quite yet at my house (unless I can convince my dogs to wear them) but Angela, from Breastfeeding 1-2-3 (another b5media blog) has posted a great free pattern for making your own baby bibs.
Here’s the link :-)

how to of the day: fabric covered beads

It’s so much fun having friends who send me interesting links :-)  Karen sent me a link to a how-to on Froo*gal’s blog, of her version of fabric-covered wooden beads.
I decided to try it myself - and quickly ran into a snag.  I only had a few wooden beads, and they’re all small ones.  I […]

sewing your own fashion accessories - great ideas for belts

My mom sent me the link to a great online article Threads Magazine has about making your own belts.  Not only do they have easy instructions, but they also have different ways to wear a belt (and which type will flatter you the most).

Click here to read the full article.
That got me thinking about different […]

charming button lampshade

I’m a major buttonaholic :-)  I think I have more buttons than I have fabric to use them on.  I have buttons that are older than I am!
This project could be a great way to display them though…

Better Homes & Gardens has this easy button lampshade project in their online craft section.  Too cute!

The tags are approximately 1 inch square with holes pierced in each corner - perfect for stitching into a piece of fiber or mixed-media art, added to your scrapbook or even made into jewelery! The large […]

Advent calendars

I loved Advent calendars when I was a child.  My mom made beautiful hand-made ones for my brother & I - and of course, my parents then had to fill a pocket with a little goodie each morning :-)
I’ve been looking for a free pattern online for an Advent calendar, and I’ve found a couple!  […]
